2nd Year Interim Exhibition, University Of Gloucestershire, Hardwick Gallery, Cheltenham.

On the 19th - 22nd April 2018 we had our interim exhibition. here are the details of my contribution, entitled Existing Removed.

Existing removed is an installation about the effects of austerity, its contribution in causing social cleansing, the accumulation of those effects that caused the fire at Grenfell Tower. It portrays my anger at the loss of life, the 71 victims, as a witness via the news media, from the outside looking in from my comfortable world, I can't possible understand how victims feel, I am not trying to, its just the anger I feel that in todays capitalist western economy, money and profit are more important than human life.

The paintings above consist of layers of plans from the 2012 regeneration program for Grenfell with found images of victims and personal photographs of the burnt out tower. text is also featured from news articles and T.S Eliot's poem Wasteland.
Also featured is a taped out plan of a one bedroom apartment from Grenfell Tower

The installations features a short animation and a mobile laundry basket filled with 71 bags of ash.
